Safer Internet Day, the annual event aimed at raising awareness about responsible and secure use of digital technologies, returns on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, with the slogan “AI and Us, What Future Together?”.
For its 22nd edition, the event highlights the challenges of digital citizenship in the era of artificial intelligence, echoing the 2025 theme of the Council of Europe.
In France, the Safer Internet Day is organized by the Internet Sans Crainte program, which focuses on educating young people about digital use and is supported by the European Commission. On this occasion, educational resources, workshops, and tools will be offered to encourage informed digital practices.

A Theme, Multiple Challenges: AI and Digital Citizenship
With the growing presence of artificial intelligence in our daily lives – from virtual assistants to recommendation algorithms – the need for responsible and ethical use has never been more pressing. Safer Internet Day 2025 invites citizens of all ages to reflect on and take action to build a healthy, critical, and informed relationship with these new technologies.
The 2025 edition encourages students, teachers, and families to consider the role of AI in our connected lives:
- What impact does it have on what we see, say, and share online?
- How can we develop critical thinking when it comes to AI-generated content?
- What are the stakes for our digital citizenship, between opportunities and challenges posed by AI?

For Schools:
Safer Internet Day is part of the school agenda and is integrated into the pHARe program, a program to combat bullying. Educational kits, tailored for primary to high school levels, are available to help teachers and awareness leaders address the following topics:
- For Primary School: What I see, do, and share online.
- For Middle and High School: Well-being, interpersonal skills, and responsible behavior online.
Internet Sans Crainte is also launching a poster competition until March 29 to illustrate the theme of Safer Internet Day 2025. Three categories are offered: primary school, middle school, high school, as well as a special category for posters created by generative AI. The selected works will be showcased on the Internet Sans Crainte website and social media as part of Safer Internet Day.
For Families:
Practical guides and a downloadable game are available to extend discussions at home about artificial intelligence and digital citizenship.
Additionally, a free webinar titled “AI and Our Children, What Future Together” will take place on February 11 at 7 PM to help parents understand AI and better support children in their digital activities and learning. The Internet Sans Crainte team and experts will be available to provide insights and answer questions on the subject.

A Network to Protect Minors Online
Safer Internet Day is part of the Safer Internet France program, which is led under the auspices of the European Commission and encompasses three main areas of action:
- Internet Sans Crainte: A national program dedicated to digital education for young people and families, operated by Tralalère.
- 3018: A service dedicated to young victims of harassment and online violence, the first French « Trust Signal » officially designated by Arcom, operated by the e-Enfance Association.
- Point de Contact: An association platform for reporting cyberviolence, designed to protect citizens’ rights on the internet.
A Collective and Participatory Mobilization
Once again this year, Safer Internet Day benefits from the support of ministries, numerous stakeholders in education and digital sectors, and companies to make this event a powerful tool for awareness and collective engagement. Schools can use an online map to list their activities on www.internetsanscrainte.fr/sid.
