LUDOVIALES đ In order to develop writing skills in students, for their exams but also for their personal and professional lives, the French teacher develops skills that allow the exploitation of the main functions of writing, the adoption of effective writing strategies and procedures. The teacher can use AI. Ahmed EL NAHTAWY from the Academy of CrĂ©teil presents to us how in a workshop during the upcoming LUDOVIALES on April 10th.
This workshop is a training where we will experiment with various tools using AI around several topics such as differentiation, creativity, and spelling skills. At the end of this training, you will be able to have a critical and constructive look at AI but also to integrate at least one digital tool embedding AI into your teaching practices, which will be structured around three phases corresponding to stages in a situation of written production: reinforcing text coherence and vocabulary through prompts.
Firstly, it is about practicing writing a prompt for a conversational agent (such as Chat GPT for example). Having a precise prompt ensures that you get a precise and complete response from the machine. This involves mastering vocabulary, a skill required of students. We will use tools that allow us to deepen the vocabulary and language structural skills of our students. Then, we will see how to develop proofreading skills in our students using AI tools.
Indeed, a resource that uses AI generates (generative AI) content by making correlations between the different data with which it has been fed. However, this does not necessarily mean that AI will perfectly meet your expectations and requirements. The big debate is whether or not to designate the use of AI as a cheating strategy; instead, we should rethink our instructions, evaluations, and success criteria.
Our students must make the effort to understand and reread what the machine has produced in order to respond to your requests.
