My 3 M’s for Effective AI Use in the Classroom

LUDOVIALES 🚀 While AI can provide quick and relevant answers, it is essential for students to learn how to use it critically, avoiding dependence. The challenge is to encourage a structured approach that allows students to master the tool without it replacing their own thinking and creativity. On April 2, Narjiss Aoukach from Quebec will lead a reflective workshop on this topic.

Personalized and Independent Learning

AI is a major asset for personalized learning. By analyzing students’ levels and needs, it can suggest tailored exercises, facilitating differentiated learning. This individualized approach strengthens student autonomy by giving them access to diverse resources and encouraging them to deepen their knowledge at their own pace.

Moreover, AI simplifies error analysis and speeds up corrections, reducing teachers’ repetitive tasks. This allows teachers to dedicate more time to individualized support and the development of tailored learning strategies.

Encouraging a Critical and Methodical Approach

To prevent AI from becoming a mere substitute for students’ thinking, they must be taught a structured and thoughtful approach. During the Ludoviales event on April 2, Narjiss from Canada will present a simple and effective strategy to guide students in this process: the « 3 M’s. »

  • Ask Myself: Why am I using AI? Is it a tool to assist me or a way to replace me?
  • Correct Myself: Do I verify AI’s answer before using it?
  • Improve Myself: Has AI helped me learn something new, or did I just copy an answer without thinking?

This approach raises awareness of AI usage, strengthening students’ critical thinking and analytical skills.

Towards a Harmonious Coexistence of AI and Pedagogy

AI should not replace teachers or students’ ability to think but rather enhance the learning process. When used thoughtfully and in a structured way, it becomes a powerful tool to support differentiation, autonomy, and personalized teaching.

With an appropriate pedagogical approach, students can learn to harness AI’s potential while developing their own critical thinking and creativity—an essential balance to ensure that this technology serves as an asset rather than a hindrance to learning.

Keywords: AI, creativity, differentiation, autonomy, personalization, critical thinking.
