LUDOVIALES 🚀 A Revolution to Embrace. Artificial intelligence is shaking up our world more than we might think, yet the topic often remains a source of concern. In the teachers’ lounge, many are wondering: between fascination and fear, how can we adapt?
Some have already adopted these tools, while others remain hesitant, fearing a loss of control over their profession. To help better understand the issues and move beyond misconceptions, Didier Roy (INRIA) and Christophe Batier (University of Lyon) will host a special session during the Ludoviales on April 2.
Understanding Before Acting
Far from alarmist rhetoric or exaggerated promises, the opening session led by Didier Roy and Christophe Batier aims to clarify key concepts related to artificial intelligence. At 1:00 PM, participants will dive into an introduction to essential terms: AI, generative AI, inference, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), intelligent agents, hubris, the AI Act, GDPR, and even the critical question of the energy consumption of AI models. These are all crucial concepts for understanding the technological and ethical implications of these tools.
What Are the Challenges for Schools?
Integrating AI in the classroom raises several fundamental questions. On the one hand, these tools offer unprecedented opportunities to personalize learning, assist teachers with repetitive tasks, and enrich educational resources. On the other hand, they present major challenges: the reliability of information, risks related to algorithmic biases, technological dependence, and compliance with regulations such as the GDPR.
Obstacles to Overcome
While some teachers are enthusiastic, others point out the current limitations of AI in the classroom. The quality of the results generated by these tools can be inconsistent, and their integration requires specific training for educators. Moreover, AI is not a magic solution: it will not replace human expertise and must remain a tool to support pedagogy.
Towards a Reasoned and Informed Use
Artificial intelligence in the classroom should not be a taboo subject but an opportunity to be approached with discernment. The Ludoviales will open the debate, explore practical applications, and identify best practices for the ethical and effective use of these technologies. The key lies in a balanced approach: neither blind rejection nor reckless adoption, but a collective reflection on the role of AI in the education of tomorrow.
Join us on April 2 for an in-depth exploration of these fascinating issues!
