The Apprendre en contes platform offers Cycle 2 teachers the opportunity to experiment with innovative teaching methods through pedagogical stories, free of charge.

Since the dawn of time, fairy tales have been told to children for their undeniable educational virtues. What if we extended this concept to teach reading—and even mathematics, science, citizenship, and psychosocial skills?

This is the bold idea behind DICE, a Low EdTech startup that offers a catalog of over 315 educational stories to be listened to in class or at home. These stories cover the full range of educational objectives for programs from Kindergarten to 2nd grade, enabling children to learn and dream across all subjects.

An Audio Library of Educational Stories

This collection of audio stories is written by educators who have thoroughly analyzed the official 2024 curriculum guidelines. The library addresses all Cycle 2 educational objectives across various subjects—not just French, mathematics, and science, but also social, emotional, and creative domains, as well as physical education!

Learning to Read with Stories

DICE offers the first comprehensive reading workshop based on listening to stories. It supports reading acquisition and fosters the joy of reading. The program includes a physical kit designed for listening, practicing, and progressing step by step. This complete method is compatible with all pedagogical approaches, whether phonics-based or mixed.

Learning Everything Through Stories

A subscription—available monthly or annually—gives unlimited access to the entire DICE collection. Teachers and parents can browse the catalog by filtering stories based on level, subject, theme, or educational objective. Pedagogical experts provide guidance to help users maximize the benefits of the stories.

A Special Offer for Teachers

Believing in the creative potential of educators and the importance of co-education, DICE invites teachers of Kindergarten and Cycle 2 to join the Teach with Stories pilot program. This initiative offers free, unlimited access to the full catalog in exchange for participation in a community of practice. No formal commitment is required.

An Expert Team at the Helm

The project is spearheaded by Serge Boëche, a seasoned pedagogue, children’s author, and entrepreneur. Known for founding the publishing house SEDRAP and serving as a director at Milan, Boëche brings extensive expertise to the platform:

Whether it’s to anticipate, reinforce, or consolidate learning, this platform aims to support children in their educational journey through a creative and imaginative approach that enhances their attention and fosters their imagination.

The project’s credibility is further bolstered by a robust scientific advisory board that includes:

  • Michel Piquemal, a best-selling children’s author
  • Benoît Jeunier, Research Director at INSPE in Toulouse
  • Pascale Commenge, a speech therapist
