STMicroelectronics, a global leader in semiconductors whose clients cover the full range of electronic applications, and the startup Vittascience, a specialist in educational tools that combine science and digital technology in schools, today unveil a new educational kit focused on science and technology, the « Embedded Artificial Intelligence Kit. »
- Designed for middle and high school students and teachers, the « Embedded Artificial Intelligence Kit » is specifically created for beginners in electronics and programming.
- Based on STMicroelectronics’ electronic components and supported by Vittascience’s digital platform, the kit offers activities at the class or educational community level, emphasizing active pedagogies.
- The « Embedded Artificial Intelligence Kit » is the fifth kit developed by STMicroelectronics and Vittascience, offering hands-on, educational, and fun learning experiences in digital sciences.
Following the success of the “Connected Plant” and “Martian Robot” kits1 (2021), and the “Discovery Kit” and “Connected Measurement Station” (2022), the « Embedded Artificial Intelligence Kit » now completes the students’ progressive learning in science. Aimed at middle and high school students and teachers, this STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) educational project aims to spark interest in scientific and digital subjects among young people. It is built around the development of educational kits based on STMicroelectronics components, supported by Vittascience’s digital platform. By offering activities at the class or educational community level and prioritizing active pedagogies, this new kit expands the tools available to teachers for addressing embedded artificial intelligence.
The « Embedded Artificial Intelligence Kit » is specially designed for beginners in electronics and programming who wish to understand the principles of artificial intelligence and its added value in embedded systems. Based on an STM32H7 development board (microcontrollers) and equipped with a camera, it will allow students to program the kit for image recognition and define actions based on the information gathered by the embedded camera. This kit can be combined with other kits already offered by the two companies, such as the Martian robot, which can then move and react autonomously thanks to prior learning of traffic signs (machine learning). STMicroelectronics and Vittascience will present this educational kit at the SIDO trade show, which will take place at the Cité Internationale de Lyon from September 18 to 19, 2024.
The five kits come with a set of educational resources, making technical and pedagogical implementation easier for teachers in their classrooms. They are programmable with Vittascience’s free online interface, in block language or Python, but also with already available C libraries and ST tools accessible on the website www.st.com. To enable the use of these kits internationally, the interface and associated educational documents are available in French, English, and Italian for most of them.
The « Embedded Artificial Intelligence Kit » has been supported by the IPCEI ME/CT (Important Project of Common European Interest in Microelectronics and Communication Technologies), which aims to provide advanced European microelectronic technologies, circuits, and systems for a strong and independent industry to serve a wide range of applications.
This project was funded by the French government as part of the France 2030 initiative.
