Over the coming weeks, you\u2019ll discover a small selection of them through articles and short videos which, we hope, will inspire your current and future projects\u2026<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"315\" height=\"560\" src=\"https:\/\/youtube.com\/embed\/0jEchFzUFYE\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\ud83c\udf99\ufe0f&nbsp;<strong>Interview<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2014 Today, we hope to inspire you with&nbsp;<strong>Micha\u00ebl Van Royen<\/strong>, an educational technologist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is supporting the implementation of the&nbsp;<strong>FMTTN framework<\/strong>&nbsp;in Wallonia:&nbsp;<strong>manual, technical, technological, and digital education<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWith the launch of the&nbsp;<em>Pact for Excellence in Education<\/em>&nbsp;and the rollout of a common core curriculum with a polytechnic approach, a new subject has emerged \u2014 FMTTN training,\u201d he explains.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Micha\u00ebl teaches at the\u00a0<strong>HE2B university college<\/strong>, and he\u2019s facing a rather unique situation, as this profession doesn\u2019t yet exist in practice. The Pact is being rolled out gradually. In fact, these FMTTN courses are already being taught in primary school, but not yet in secondary education:<br><strong>\u201cSo our students have to do internships, but there\u2019s nowhere for them to really immerse themselves and understand the reality on the ground \u2014 because it doesn\u2019t yet exist,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0he notes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These new teachers, trained under the Pact for Excellence, must master several areas:&nbsp;<strong>housing, gardening, sustainable development, digital education, education&nbsp;<em>through<\/em>&nbsp;digital tools, technological objects<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2014 and the list goes on!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These new students are curious, hands-on individuals \u2014 true Swiss Army knives!<br><strong>\u201cWe can think of it as a subject, but also as a transversal approach that can be used alongside other subjects,\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;he says.<br><strong>\u201cFor example, teaching media literacy through civic and philosophical education; or using content creation in French class to work on storytelling,\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;he adds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the&nbsp;<strong>second year<\/strong>&nbsp;of this training program. So far, the results are mixed, as it\u2019s still an emerging course and enrollment numbers are low.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cThe issue is that students have a hard time envisioning the job,\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;he explains.&nbsp;<strong>\u201cIt\u2019s an emerging profession.
