Over the coming weeks, we\u2019ll be sharing a selection of them through articles and short videos that we hope will spark ideas for your current and future projects.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"315\" height=\"560\" src=\"https:\/\/youtube.com\/embed\/bQqiEau5mjQ?si=t9zb9KF7kTtSNvFu\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Interview \ud83c\udf99\ufe0f<\/strong>Today, we hope to inspire you with Alyssia Ricci, an educational technologist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She talks to us about a project she led with eight youth centers to deconstruct a number of stereotypes commonly found in the media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe carried out a media literacy project with eight youth centers in Belgium, in which we deconstructed gender stereotypes, diversity issues, racism, beauty standards, and sexism as seen in the media,\u201d explains Alyssia.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The media chosen were those most used by young people\u2014namely, social networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAnd indirectly, within social networks, there\u2019s a lot of AI. That\u2019s why we asked ourselves the following question: does AI also carry biases?\u201d she adds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As they dug deeper with the youth, they quickly realized that AI indeed contains many biases\u2014especially racial ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTrying to generate an image of a Black doctor treating a white child? That\u2019s practically impossible with ChatGPT,\u201d she says with irony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In light of these findings, she describes the young participants\u2019 reactions as surprised by the AI\u2019s responses. This kind of work opens their eyes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re not aware of all this, and they feel particularly affected when the topic relates to them,\u201d she explains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They learn that to get a precise output from ChatGPT, they need to use a precise prompt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAt first, young people use prompts like a search engine\u2014short phrases, keywords\u2014and that\u2019s where biases are most evident. But even with detailed prompts, it\u2019s hard to avoid censorship.
