{"id":3278,"date":"2025-01-03T11:31:13","date_gmt":"2025-01-03T10:31:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ludomag.com\/en\/?p=3278"},"modified":"2025-01-08T11:37:44","modified_gmt":"2025-01-08T10:37:44","slug":"the-cned-develops-an-innovative-pedagogical-model-using-virtual-reality","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ludomag.com\/en\/2025\/01\/03\/the-cned-develops-an-innovative-pedagogical-model-using-virtual-reality\/","title":{"rendered":"The Cned Develops an Innovative Pedagogical Model Using Virtual Reality"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In the second episode of a three-part series on innovation at <a href=\"https:\/\/ludomag.com\/en\/tag\/cned\/\" title=\"\">Cned<\/a>, Julien Cardon, Innovation Project Manager, explains how Cned is working on integrating virtual reality to provide this tool to students and improve their learning experiences.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>At Cned\u2019s Research &amp; Development department, we focus on anticipating emerging technologies, including virtual reality.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, virtual reality is not yet widely democratized, but it is expected to become so quickly. \u201cWhen that day comes, Cned must be ready to offer effective pedagogical models for learning,\u201d he emphasizes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Much has already been achieved in virtual reality, particularly in applications within industries and the healthcare sector, \u201cfocused on procedural approaches to adopt safe practices, and so on.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn education today, virtual reality is mostly used for exploration or discovery.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He provides examples such as virtual museum tours, visits to archaeological sites, or exploring cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>At Cned, our aim is to harness virtual reality to bring genuine learning progress to students.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"615\" src=\"https:\/\/ludomag.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Image_realiteVirtuelle2_Ep2-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3280\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ludomag.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Image_realiteVirtuelle2_Ep2-1.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/ludomag.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Image_realiteVirtuelle2_Ep2-1-300x185.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ludomag.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Image_realiteVirtuelle2_Ep2-1-768x472.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ludomag.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Image_realiteVirtuelle2_Ep2-1-860x529.jpg 860w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Virtual Reality Demonstration at Educatech Expo \u2013 Nov 2024<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Benefits of Virtual Reality for Learning<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have assessed the benefits that virtual reality can bring to learning through scenarios we\u2019ve developed in VR,\u201d explains Julien Cardon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several hypotheses were tested: sensory immersion enhances memory retention; experiential learning through problem-solving can facilitate learning; high learner engagement, where students must make decisions to progress in the scenario and achieve concrete objectives, supports active learning, and so on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is our approach at the Innovation Lab: we don\u2019t necessarily have all the answers to our questions, so we seek them from users\u2014in this case, the students,\u201d he adds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also shares an example of their first scenario, which focuses on geometry: calculating volumes and building structures with various geometric shapes.
