However, the presence of almost 800 on-site participants was deemed overall satisfactory and of high quality by partners and organizers.

In total, 346 proposals were developed around the theme of everyday digital technology use in the classroom: 2 conferences, 3 round tables, 6 Pechakuchas (available online here), 18 scientific presentations, and more than 300 exploratory workshops (Explorcamps and other workshops), for exchanges and discovery of educational practices or resources related to the theme.

Most of the organized conferences were also offered « free of charge » online during the three days of LUDOVIA, and each one was followed live and remotely by an average of a hundred participants. The opening scientific conference, presented by Jean-François Cerisier, director of the Techné laboratory at the University of Poitiers, encouraged reflection on the theme of digital technology in everyday classroom life, which the speaker found to be a somewhat negative perception. He sought to question the role of digital technology, which has become a new norm in schools. (Watch the conference online)

It is worth noting that 70 exhibitors and collectives (see here) were present this year in the themed areas organized in the Parc du Casino in Ax-les-Thermes: the Digital Souk, the space for teacher collectives, the Edtech & Research village, and the publishers’ corner under the Forum de la Halle.

This year, the second season of the seminar for communities, « 21st Century Schools and Digital Technology, » introduced « the territorial project award, » which, after selecting seven projects meeting six essential criteria, invited them to present in the form of « Pitches. » During the Pitch session and workshops on projects on the morning of August 28, the City of Enghien-les-Bains, in partnership with Lili.cool, was recognized for its project promoting a positive school climate, and the City of Béziers, in collaboration with Cantoo, was honored for its project on inclusive schooling for all.

The participants (teachers, local authorities, and Edtechs present), satisfied with their participation in LUDOVIA this summer, nonetheless pondered their future daily use of digital technology in the classroom given the uncertainties and instabilities of policies to be considered in their sector for the next three years.

Details of the Highlights Awarded at LUDOVIA 2024

START-UP – YOUNG INNOVATOR :

– Presented by Anne Philipson from RÉSEAU CANOPE / Emmanuel Quatrefage from InMac WSTORE / Orianne Ledroit from EdtechFrance

– Awarded to SYLEX-AMBROS for its resources on sexuality and affective relationships

SCIENTIFIC COMMUNICATION ON THE YEAR’S THEME :

– Presented by Isabelle Lavail-Ravetllat from the University of Perpignan – Via Domitia / Thierry Gobert from the University of Perpignan

– Awarded to Sara Dethise Martinez (University of Namur – Belgium) for her presentation on « The Vulnerability of Young Video Game Players and Parents’ Concerns »

EXPLORCAMP ON THE YEAR’S THEME – CAROLINE JOUNEAU-SION AWARD :

– Presented by Alain Naudy from the Ariège Departmental Council / Jérôme Badiou from iDruide / Guillaume Bonzom from DRANE Occitanie

– Awarded to Romain Bourdel-Chapuzot, a secondary school teacher from the SCOllectif, for his workshop « The Contribution of Cognitive Sciences to My Daily Practices »

PECHAKUCHA ON THE YEAR’S THEME :

– Presented by Guy Cirla from LUDOVIA / Sylvie Couderc from OT PYRENEES-ARIEGEOISES

– Awarded to Anne Philipson and Aurélia Medan from CANOPÉ OCCITANIE

TERRITORIAL PROJECT & LOCAL AUTHORITIES :

– Presented by Eric Fourcaud from LUDOMAG / Pierre Schmitt from LDE PopLab / Rebecca Birnbaum from GOOGLE For EDUCATION

Two awards were given this year, a first for these territorial projects:

– Awarded to the City of Enghien-les-Bains and Lili.cool for their project on the city’s school climate « Teaching Psycho-Social Skills for All »

– Awarded to the City of Béziers and Cantoo for their digital project and its experiment on « Inclusive Schooling for All »

SPECIAL PUBLIC’S CHOICE AWARD :

– Presented by Stéphane Serre from the Occitanie Region / Pierre Laborde from AFINEF / Lionel Garnier from DNE

– Awarded to AFT-RN, particularly Aurélie Mercier-Richard, for her involvement in AFTRN and activities at LUDOVIA#21.

The 21st edition of LUDOVIA has just come to a close, marking an opportunity to review participation, key ideas that emerged around this year’s theme, and new initiatives that bring renewal each year to this summer university, held in Ax-les-Thermes in Ariège from August 26 to 28, 2024.
